The Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) recently hosted the much-anticipated 1320 Heat Drag Race, marking the first round of the drag racing series. The event, held at the South Dakota Circuit, proved to be a resounding success; the atmosphere was charged with excitement, with over 75 competitors lining up at the starting line. The event proceeded seamlessly, free from incidents or interruptions, and even concluded ahead of schedule. The surplus time was utilized for exhilarating grudge matches, further amplifying the excitement for participants and fans.
One of the standout moments of the day was Malicia Lawrence’s remarkable performance, captivating the crowd by competing alongside male counterparts. Although she came tantalizingly close to securing the 15-second bracket, an unexpected fuel pump issue forced her out of the class. Nevertheless, Lawrence’s participation highlighted the club’s commitment to providing opportunities for all female competitors.
