Three Surinamese drivers have arrived for the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) ‘1320 Heat’ Rematch Drag Race event on Sunday at South Dakota. Two more are expected on Friday.
While the Surinamese were not here for the event in August, mainly due to out-of-service Guyana/Suriname ferry service, three of the five-member team have arrived and based on interactions they are eager to stamp their authority at South Dakota.
Jalimsing Ajay and his Honda s2000 are in Guyana, along with usual suspects Raymond John and Michael Namchand.
GMR&SC President Rameez Mohamed said: “The word from the drivers is that they are here to hush the Guyanese.”
While Suriname’s powerful Nova, is not making the trip, which rules them out from big challenges in the faster categories, they still have serious machine power.
